Sanding sealers fill the pores and serve as a primer for other finishing products.
Water-based seals serve as a layer for wood wax or carnauba wax.
The cellulose-based products serve as a primary layer for melamine lacquer or cellulose lacquer.

Type: Flake shellac dissolved in alcohol.

Use: Suitable for sealing all types of wood prior to French Polishing, before waxing or as a finish in its own right.

Special Features: Contains additives that facilitate sanding when dry.

Preparation: Wood should be clean and smooth. If grain is open, fill with Rustin’s Grain filler. Furniture that is to be renovated should be cleaned with white spirit and fine wire wool to ensure that it is free from grease and wax.

Application: Apply liberally with a soft brush or pad and allow to dry. Rub down lightly with glass paper before applying a second coat when used as a finish rub with 00 or 000 steel wool and wax polish finishing with a soft cloth or yellow duster.

Coats: As a finish, apply as many coats as required to build a sufficient layer of shellac. For sealing wood before waxing, apply 2 liberal coats.

Drying Time: 1-2 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.

Re-coating Time: 2 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.

Application Temperature: Use in a warm, dry atmosphere, ideally 15- 25 ºC

Coverage: 13-15 square metres/litre

Maintenance: Wipe with damp cloth. Greasy or dirty surfaces should be cleaned with a mild non abrasive liquid detergent. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents. Wax polishes may be used.

Compatibility: Wood may be dyed with Rustin’s Wood Dye prior to sealing with Rustin’s Sanding Sealer. The Sanding Sealer may then be waxed.

Shake thoroughly before use.

Shelf-life / Storage: A very long time if stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry place.

Hazards: Highly Flammable. Harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. Keep out of reach of children. Keep container tightly closed. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Do not breathe vapour. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately, (show the label where possible).

Clean-Up: All equipment must be cleaned whilst wet with Methylated Spirits.
