A band saw is a rigid frame tool, whose saw blade, stretched around two hand wheels (one upper, one lower), cuts the wood that is guided over a saw table located at the operator's side. The band saw is mainly used for pre-cutting workpieces, trimming and edging. Most of these machines are stationary and large. However, there are also smaller models, known as "table circular saws".
Note: the expression "sawing with the line" means sawing with the blade at the edge of the line, so that the pencil line is still visible after cutting.
