This is the Robert Sorby SOV-ULTCSJ Ultima Cutter Sharpening Jig. A simple but inexpensive system for producing a sharp cutting edge on all round knives.
The main body is made of phosphor bronze. Use a small amount of light oil for trouble-free use. The mould rotates smoothly in the steel sleeve.
The bevel/relief side of the cutter should always face upwards. Sometimes the cutter gets too tight during grinding. To loosen it, insert a small rod into the release hole. This will hold the jig while the screw is removed from the cutter.
How to use the Robert Sorby SOV-ULTCSJ Ultima Cutter Sharpening Jig
1. Hold the ferrule and gently place the front of the blade against the sanding belt or disc, then allow the blade holder to rotate freely in the ferrule, creating a perfect sharp edge on the blade.
2. Almost the same as method 1 but this time grab the jagged part between your finger and thumb and slowly rotate the jig so that the entire surface of the front touches the abrasive to get a sharp edge.
