These tools are used to drill deep holes in the axis of the workpiece. The HAMLET Boring tool is made in HSS, total length is about 860 mm. A spiral has been milled into the front part to facilitate the evacuation of chips. The drill is pushed into the rotating wood via the drilled loose head and via a drilled rotating centre point. The thickness of the drill bit must, of course, correspond to the diameter of the hole in the separate head. In most cases, this is 8 mm. As the drill should not become too hot, it is important not to let the lathe turn too fast, and to remove the wood shavings from the borehole very regularly.
